## Export growth made a priority

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high‑level review on Tuesday, instructing federal agencies to place export expansion at the heart of Pakistan’s economic development strategy. The directive calls for broadening the export basket beyond traditional commodities and pulling more sectors into international trade.

## Quality, value addition and technology focus

The PM emphasized aligning Pakistani products with global standards, strengthening quality‑assurance systems and ensuring compliance with international regulations. He urged a stronger focus on value‑addition to raise the competitiveness of local goods. Authorities were also asked to promote modern technology, research, innovation and digitalisation within export‑oriented industries.

## Streamlining procedures

Exporters were told to expect the removal of administrative and business‑related bottlenecks. The government will simplify, speed up and make the export process more transparent, aiming to create a smoother path from production to overseas markets.

## Market access and sectoral diversification

Officials reported progress on negotiating free‑trade agreements and preferential trade arrangements with friendly nations. Efforts are under way to add horticultural products, surgical and medical equipment, and other high‑value items to the export basket. Upcoming exhibitions such as TEXPO, Health Engineering and Minerals Show, and FoodAg will showcase Pakistani products to international buyers.

## Institutional support

The Export Development Fund has been restructured, and further measures through the fund will support the business community. Intellectual‑property law reforms are also being pursued to foster innovation in export sectors.
